The information on these pages is primarily aimed at scientists and researchers and is maintained at UWA in Perth. The Busselton Health Study is one of the longest running epidemiological research programs in the world. The residents of the town of Busselton in the south-west of Western Australia have been involved in a series of health surveys since 1966. Busselton Health Study activities include:

A unique database of information spanning over 30 years has been compiled and has provided much information on common diseases and their relationships to risk factors, lifestyle and environmental variables. A total of over 200 articles has been published in international research literature.

The Busselton Population Medical Research Foundation is responsible for the management and use of the accumulated information, and fostering and promoting relevant research associated with the Busselton Health Study. The BPMRF welcomes approaches from bona fide research workers for access to the accumulated data and biological materials and for participation in ongoing and new data collection activities, provided the proposed research does not conflict with current research projects and as long as it is done in collaboration with a BPMRF-affiliated researcher.

The School of Population Health at the University of Western Australia maintains and updates the computerised database and provides statistical services associated with the database.

The primary focus of the surveys was on cardiovascular and respiratory diseases and their risk factors, although other conditions have also been studied. For a complete description of the accumulated data and biological specimens collection, see data summary.
